Surgery can be an intimidating prospect for devoted pet parents. You want assurance that your companion is in capable, trustworthy hands at all times, and we could not agree more! Companion Animal Hospital Kenosha is an AAHA-accredited hospital that also utilizes Fear Free care techniques to keep pets comfortable, safe, and at-ease. As fellow pet parents, our team knows how important it is to ensure safety and keep your loved ones pain-free.

Every step of our pet surgery process follows the American Animal Hospital Association’s guidelines for anesthesia, preparation, monitoring, pain management, and post-op care. During your consultation, we can discuss these steps and answer all of your questions about your pet’s upcoming procedure.

SAFETY IS HIGHEST OUR PRIORITY

From the equipment we use to the medications we offer, we perform every pet surgery with safety as our highest priority. General anesthesia can pose a certain degree of risk for even the healthiest pets, which is why we take every precaution to keep that risk low.

PRE-ANESTHESIA

Before placing your pet under anesthesia, we need to examine them thoroughly and run blood work to check their health. This includes body temperature, heart rate, organ function, and blood chemistry. These factors determine how we handle your pet’s anesthesia and pain management protocols.

MONITORING

Every surgery includes a skilled veterinary technician, who is responsible for monitoring your pet’s vital signs during the surgery. Our advanced monitoring equipment measures:

  • Heart rate
  • Respiratory rate
  • Blood pressure
  • Temperature
  • Oxygen saturation
  • CO2 levels

If our equipment detects any changes in the above values, we can quickly adjust your pet’s anesthesia levels, fluid support, and other medications to accommodate these changes.
